Common Questions
What is counselling and psychotherapy?
Counselling and psychotherapy offer a space to explore thoughts, feelings, experiences and patterns with the support of a trained professional. Therapy can help you develop a greater understanding of yourself and what you may be experiencing.
What happens in the initial consultation?
The initial consultation is a free conversation of up to 30 minutes. It is an opportunity to talk briefly about what has brought you to therapy, ask any questions you may have and consider whether NUA feels like the right fit for you. There is no obligation to book further sessions.
What if I’ve never had therapy before?
That’s completely okay. You don’t need any previous experience of therapy. We can take things at a pace that feels appropriate for you, and you can ask questions along the way.
How long is a therapy session?
Individual therapy sessions are 50 minutes.
How often would I attend?
This can be discussed together based on your circumstances, needs and what feels appropriate for you.
How much does therapy cost?
Individual therapy is £60 per 50-minute session.
Your initial consultation of up to 30 minutes is free.
Do you offer online or in-person therapy?
Yes. Both online and in-person therapy are available. In-person sessions are offered in Birmingham, UK.
What is The NUA Letter?
The NUA Letter is a free monthly resource offering thoughtful reflections, accessible psychological insight and practical self-care ideas to help you pause, reflect and better understand yourself.
It’s available to everyone, whether or not you’re in therapy, and is designed as a small moment of support for your wellbeing. If you’re not yet ready for therapy, The NUA Letter offers a way to engage with NUA at your own pace.
The NUA Letter is not therapy or a substitute for professional mental health support.
